ABOUT ME
Wholehearted was born when myself and a colleague struggled to find resources that we could use to create a calm and inviting classroom, whilst providing students with the tools they need to learn successfully. We began making resources that we could use in our own classrooms and I wanted to share these with other like-minded educators.
I have continued to build Wholehearted as I wanted to create a place for teachers and parents to be inspired through my love of nature and knowledge of the Primary Curriculum.
Throughout my teaching career I have followed multiple educational philosophies. Reggio Emilia and Montessori approaches have resonated with me and have influenced my teaching throughout my career. I believe each child should be at the centre of their own education and should be encouraged to develop an innate love of learning at school. My classroom environment acts as the ‘third teacher’ and allows students to learn through play, engagement and interaction.
Although these educational philosophies often relate to early childhood settings, I strongly believe all teachers, up to Year 6, should embrace the best of these philosophies, combined with teaching and learning that is aligned with syllabus outcomes.
I aim to learn alongside my students and be involved in group learning experiences, following the path of discovery with them. Setting up a classroom and having resources that allows this, is integral to my teaching style.
At Wholehearted I aim to provide resources that can create this inspiring and purposeful learning environment that you too can use in the classroom or at home.
